Jeffrey Hung, Ph.D.
Co-Founder and CEO
Jeffrey Hung, Ph.D, is a serial entrepreneur and is passionate about developing technologies to serve unmed biomedical needs. Dr. Hung was the General Manager and Chief Commercial Officer of Vigene Biosciences, a leading gene delivery company that was acquired by CRL in July 2021 for ~ $300 Million. As the General Manager of GMP Business, Dr. Hung orchestrated Vigene Biosciences’ acquisition of Omnia Biologics in 2016, a CMO specializing on GMP manufacturing of viruses; and played an important role in Vigene’s acquisition by CRL in 2021.
Prior to Vigene, Dr. Hung was a senior executive with GenScript, a global gene synthesis and life science service company. He was instrumental in growing GenScript to its IPO in Dec 2015. Dr. Hung was also part of the management team of SABiosciences who grew the company to its final sales to QIAGEN for nearly $100 million in 2010.
Dr. Hung is a co-inventor of the Accufy NGS tagging library preparation and Accufy NGS target enrichment technologies. In addition, he is the author of multiple patents, per reviewed publications and book chapters. Dr. Hung earned his PhD from Cornell University, MBA from UC Berkeley, and BS from Peking University.
